Board of Directors

Brendan Kennedy is CEO of Tilray, a global pioneer in cannabis research, production, and distribution. Brendan brings a strong background of entrepreneurship and hands-on business experience at the forefront of the venture backed-business community to Tilray. As a member of the founding team at SVB Analytics, a non-bank affiliate of Silicon Valley Bank, he managed an international team that rendered valuation opinions for emerging growth technology, life science and venture capital companies. He is also the co-founder of Privateer Holdings, the world's first private equity firm to invest exclusively in legal cannabis, which has raised $200+ million to build a global portfolio of leading cannabis businesses. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley; an M.S. from the University of Washington; and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management.

Christine St.Clare founded St.Clare Advisors, LLC in September 2010 and currently serves as its President. Prior to founding her own firm, Christine was a partner at KPMG LLP, where she was an Audit Partner from 1986 to 2005 and Advisory Partner from 2006 to 2010. During her time at KPMG, Christine served as Lead Audit Partner for some of the firm’s largest retail clients and served a four-year term on KPMG’s Board of Directors. She currently is an Independent Director of Fibrocell Science, Inc., and AquaBounty Technologies, Inc. and was an Independent Director for AVINTIV, Inc.  (formerly known as Polymer Group, Inc.) prior to the sale of the company.

Rebekah Dopp has served as a member of our board of directors since May 2018. Ms. Dopp Rebekah currently works at Google where she is the founder of Exponent – the company’s gender equality incubator; she joined Google in 2016 as Head of Local TV Partnerships and she was the architect of the local TV engagement strategy for YouTube TV.  She previously served as Senior Vice President, Advanced Digital Services for CBS Corporation from 2014 to 2016 and in several leadership positions at HBO from 2001 to 2014. She is a CEO coach, keynote speaker and has led global product, engineering, strategy, and distribution teams.  She served as a senior leader on the launch teams for HBO GO, CBS All Access, and YouTube TV.  

Ms. Dopp holds a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in finance from The College of William and Mary and participated in the Directors’ College at Stanford Law School and the TV Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.    

Maryscott “Scotty” Greenwood currently serves as CEO of the Canadian American Business Council and as Partner and Managing Director, U.S. for Crestview Strategy. Prior to this, Scotty served as Principal at Dentons U.S. LLP (Dentons) in the firm’s Public Policy Group and as co-leader of the practice’s Advocacy and Government Affairs team. Immediately before joining Dentons in 2001, Scotty spent four years as chief of staff of the U.S. Embassy in Canada as a Presidential appointee. From 1993 to 1997, Scotty was director of intergovernmental affairs for the City of Atlanta, handling state and federal relations, including working on several projects related to the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games.

Michael Auerbach currently serves as Senior Vice President at Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG) and General Partner at Subversive Capital.  Prior to joining ASG, he served as a Vice President at global risk consultancy Control Risks. A dot-com bubble veteran, Michael started his career in technology, running Panopticon Inc., a VC incubator concentrating on internet and mobile technology. Michael has held senior positions at the Center for American Progress and The Century Foundation, where he concentrated on issues related to U.S. Foreign Policy, National Security, and Conflict Resolution. 

Medical Advisory Board

Orrin Devinsky, MD, Chairman, is Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at the NYU Langone Medical Center. His research interests include the use of cannabinoids and other medications to treat a variety of epilepsy syndromes. He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Epilepsy Society, the Epilepsy Foundation and the Epilepsy Therapy Project, as well as the Scientific Advisory Boards of numerous disease organization. Dr. Devinsky has been an invited speaker at international epilepsy and neurology conferences for more than 20 years, and has authored over 400 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 20 books and monographs.

Abraham Chachoua, MD, is Associate Director of Cancer Services at the NYU Langone Perlmutter Cancer Center and the Jay and Isabel Fine Professor of Oncology at the NYU Langone Department of Medicine. He specializes in the treatment of cancers that affect the lungs and chest. He has been involved in a number of clinical trials for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. Dr. Chachoua has a particular interest in the study of novel targeted therapies and earlier intervention in disease, integrating multiple modalities for the treatment of locally advanced lung cancer.

Elizabeth K. Hale, MD, is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at NYU Langone Medical Center and the co-Founder of CompleteSkinMD in New York City. She specializes in laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Hale has extensive experience in the field of skin cancer and is a senior vice president of the Skin Cancer Foundation. She has been named a “Best Doctor in Dermatology” by New York Magazine and a “Super Doctor” by the New York Times for the past five years. Dr. Hale has been an invited lecturer at international conferences focused on skin cancer and its treatment. Dr. Hale has authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and more than 10 textbooks and chapters.

Catherine Lord, PhD, is Professor of Psychology in Psychiatry and founding Director of the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain (CADB), a collaborative program between New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in partnership with New York Collaborates for Autism. She is internationally recognized for her work in longitudinal studies of children with autism as well as for her role in developing the autism diagnostic instruments used in both practice and in research worldwide today.

International Advisory Board

Governor Howard Dean is a former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman, presidential candidate, six-term Governor of Vermont, and physician. Gov. Dean is also the founder of Democracy for America, a lecturer at Yale University and a strategic consultant for the global law firm Dentons.

Michael Steele made history when he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Maryland in 2003, as the first African American elected to statewide office; and again, with his subsequent chairmanship of the Republican National Committee (RNC). Under Mr. Steele’s leadership the RNC broke fundraising records and led Republicans to win 63 House seats in 2010, the biggest pick-up since 1938. Mr. Steele is an accomplished author and media commentator

The Honourable Lloyd Axworthy P.C., C.C., O.M., is the chair of the World Refugee Council and one of Canada’s leading voices on global migration and refugee protection. Throughout his 27-year political career, he served as Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Employment and Immigration, among other postings.

Joschka Fischer served as Foreign Minister and Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. He is a member of the Executive Board of the European Council on Foreign Relations. Mr. Fischer also currently serves as Managing Partner of Joschka Fischer & Company, a global strategy firm, where he advises clients on issues relating to Germany and the European Union.

Jaime Gama is the longest-serving Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs. Over a distinguished career in public policy, Mr. Gama served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Defense, and Minister of State. He was a member of the Government in 2001 when Portugal approved its decriminalization and harm reduction drug policy. He was elected Member of Parliament and served as the Speaker of the Parliament. Mr. Gama serves as the chairman of a bank and of a private foundation.

The Honourable Alexander John Gosse Downer, AC, was the longest-serving Minister for Foreign Affairs in Australia in history, holding his position for ten years. He also served has High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. Mr. Downer was a diplomat in the Department of Foreign Affairs, serving in the Australian Mission to the European Union, the Australian Representation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and at Australian embassies in Belgium and Luxembourg.

Rt Hon Sir Donald McKinnon, ONZ, GCVO, was New Zealand’s longest serving Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade and held the portfolios of Disarmament and Arms Control, Veteran’s Affairs, War Pensions, and Pacific Island Affairs. Mr. McKinnon served as Deputy Prime Minister, Leader of the House and was appointed a member of Her Majesty’s Privy Council. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in initiating and overseeing the ceasefire between Bougainvilleans and the Papua New Guinea Government in 1997.

James O’Brien served two U.S. administrations as Special Presidential Envoy. Mr. O’Brien has been Senior Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State and served as the Principal Deputy Director of Policy Planning at the State Department. Mr. O’Brien currently serves as Vice Chair of Albright Stonebridge Group (ASG) and heads up the firm’s practice in Europe.

Dr. Lorna Marsden is a former Canadian Senator from Ontario who was appointed to the position by former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau. She served in the Senate for eight and a half years, where she was a member of the Standing Committee on National Finance and chairwoman of the Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology. Dr. Marsden also served as President and Vice-Chancellor of York University and President and Vice-Chancellor of Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

Gérard Araud, 66, a career diplomat, has retired in April 2019 from the French foreign service as Ambassador of France to the United States (2014-2019). He previously held numerous positions within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notably Director for Strategic Affairs, Security and Disarmament (2000-2003), Ambassador of France to Israel (2003-2006), Director General for Political Affairs and Security (2006-2009), and Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations in New York (2009-2014). He has reached the highest rank in the French diplomatic service (‘’Ambassadeur de France’’). After retiring, he has taken the position of Senior vice-President for strategy at Richard Attias and Associates in NYC. He is trustee of the International Crisis Group and Senior Distinguished Fellow of the Atlantic Council in Washington DC. He is a columnist for the French weekly ‘’Le Point’’ and for the National French Radio ‘’France Inter’’ and has frequently being interviewed as an foreign affairs expert by CNN International, the BBC and other English speaking TV and radios.
